Roxy Nel
Instructor
Roxy was born in Pretoria where she attended Pro Arte School of the Arts majoring in ballet. She then moved to Cape Town and obtained her BMus Degree in Dance at UCT School of Dance in 2004 where she was first introduced to Pilates.
Roxy went on to travel to the USA and UK and upon returning to South Africa embarked on a career in advertising. After a few years she longed to get back to movement and teaching and thus completed her BASI® Comprehensive Teacher Training in 2014.
She loves the art of movement, anatomy, flow and precision of pilates and continues to extend her knowledge by attending advanced courses and workshops which include, Pre & Post Natal Pilates, Injuries and prevention, Pilates for Men and attended the BASI® Mentor Program in 2017 which forms part of theBASI® Legacy Program. To assist clients in training for marathons and other sports, she also completed her SFG Kettlebells Course in 2016.
Roxy believes we should always strive to have a good balance between strength and flexibility which she uses to assist her clients in reaching their goals.
Pilates is a lifestyle and she lives by the quote from Joseph Pilates
“If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old. IF it is completely flexible at 60, you are young.”
When Roxy is not in the studio you will find her at home baking or playing the guitar, living and loving life.
